Route Overview

Embark on a 6 days Rongai Route to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. 6 Days Rongai Route Itinerary

Day 1: Rongai Gate (1950m) to Simba Camp (2626m)

Begin your trek from Rongai Gate, winding through lush rainforests and diverse flora. Ascend gradually to Simba Camp, nestled amidst the verdant surroundings, where you’ll spend your first night on the mountain.

Day 2: Simba Camp (2626m) to Second Cave (3450m)

Continue your journey through the enchanting rainforest, gradually gaining elevation. Arrive at Second Cave, a serene campsite offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, and settle in for the evening.

Day 3: Second Cave (3450m) to Kikelelwa Camp (3600m)

Embark on a scenic hike through moorland terrain, passing by unique flora and fauna along the way. Reach Kikelelwa Camp, situated amidst rolling hills, and enjoy a well-deserved rest before the next leg of your adventure.

Day 4: Kikelelwa Camp (3600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m)

Ascend further towards Mawenzi Tarn Camp, marveling at the breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding alpine landscape. Spend the night at this picturesque campsite, soaking in the tranquility of the mountain environment.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m) to Kibo Hut (4700m)

Continue your ascent towards Kibo Hut, the final stop before your summit attempt. Trek across rocky terrain and challenging slopes as you make your way to the base of the summit cone. Rest and prepare for the challenging climb ahead.

Day 6: Summit Day – Kibo Hut (4700m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) 

Rise before dawn and embark on the ultimate summit push under the starlit sky. Push yourself to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and savor the breathtaking views from the summit. Descend back to Horombo Hut, where you’ll celebrate your achievement and reflect on the unforgettable journey you’ve undertaken.
